Probeware Only

Want to enhance your existing laboratory in your classroom?  It's simple!  Request the probeware to be delivered to your school (instead of the entire laboratory kit).

  • Request any probeware in our inventory

  • LabQuest 2 devices must be requested separately

  • Check-out system is identical to U-PIKs

U-PIKs: Vernier Mini-Gas Chromatograph

The Mini Gas Chromatograph (Mini GC) is a portable instrument for separating, analyzing, and identifying substances contained in a volatile liquid or gaseous sample.

Lab Experiments Include:

  • Investigating Gas Chromatography

U-PIKs: Vernier Ultra-Violet/Visible Spectrometer

The Vernier UV-VIS Spectrophotometer is a portable ultraviolet and visible light spectrophotometer for measuring the absorbance spectra of various chemical and biochemical compounds.

Lab Experiments Include:

  • Introduction to UV-Vis Spectroscopy

  • Analysis & Purity of Aspirin Tablets

  • Isolating & Calculating Purity of Caffeine from Tea Leaves

U-PIKs: Colorimeter

The Colorimeter is great for Beer’s law experiments, determining the concentration of unknown solutions, or studying changes in concentration vs. time of colored samples.  The UV-Vis Spectrometer (not the Colorimeter) is suggested if your sample is an organic one that absorbs in the range of 200-400 nm.

Labs Include:

  • Introduction to Colorimetry

  • Determination of Iron in Water

  • Chemical Kinetics of Crystal Violet

  • Calculating the Equilibrium Constant of a FeSCN Complex

U-PIKs: Atomic Emission Spectrometer & Spectrum Tubes

Use the Vernier Emissions Spectrometer to conduct emissions analysis.  It gives precise measurements over a range of 350–900 nm to examine spectra of light bulbs, spectrum tubes, or the sun.  The Emissions Spectrometer will also include a Spectrum Carousel and an Assortment of Spectrum Lamps.

Labs Include:

  • COMING SOON

U-PIKs: Vernier Melting Point Stations

The Melt Station makes it possible to accurately determine the melting temperature of solid substances.

Labs Include:

  • Melting Point of an Unknown Substance

  • Recrystallization

U-PIKs: Vernier pH Sensor

Our general-purpose pH Sensor can be used across disciplines, including chemistry, biology, middle school science, and environmental science.

Lab Experiments Include:

  • pH of Household Items
  • Introduction to Buffers
  • Measuring pH of Soil Samples

U-PIKs: Vernier Gas Pressure Sensor

The Gas Pressure Sensor can be used to monitor pressure changes in a gas.  The range is wide enough to perform Boyle's law yet it is sensitive enough to conduct vapor-pressure or temperature-pressure experiments.

Labs Include:

  • Cellular Respiration

U-PIKs: Wide Range Temperature Probe

The Wide-Range Temperature Probe is a rugged "thermometer" that features a wide temperature range, from –20 to 330°C.  The high upper limit of the sensor allows for melting point determinations of most organic compounds.

Labs Include:

  • COMING SOON

U-PIKs: Stainless Steel Temperature Probe

The Stainless Steel Temperature Probe s a rugged, general-purpose temperature sensor that can be used in organic liquids, salt solutions, acids, and bases.  Use it as you would use a thermometer for experiments in chemistry, physics, biology, Earth science, and environmental science.

Labs Include:

  • How Temperature Affects Solubility

  • Weather Study:  Heating & Cooling of Land & Water

U-PIKs: Barometer

The Barometer can be used to measure and monitor atmospheric pressure.  It works well for conducting weather studies or for experiments that involve pressures close to normal atmospheric pressure.

Labs Include:

  • Barometer Study:  An Introduction to Pressure

U-PIKs: Voltage Probe

The Differential Voltage Probe is designed for exploring the basic principles of electricity. Use this probe to measure voltages in low voltage AC and DC circuits.

Labs Include:

  • Lemon Juice Battery

U-PIKs: Drop Counters

Use the Drop Counter to perform accurate, automatic titrations. Record the number of drops or calibrate the drop size to record volume of titrant added during a titration.

Labs Include:

  • Standardization of Sodium Hydroxide

  • Titration of a Strong Acid and a Strong Base

  • Calculating the Percentage of Acetic Acid in Vinegar
